U12 Curling

U12 Curling is a great way for new curlers to Explore their interest in the sport and for returning curlers to continue to improve their skills. This program offers a stage-appropriate blend of fun drills and simulated games, and is designed to build the basic skills associated with being a thrower, a sweeper, and a skip.

Our U12 program is coached by current Golden Bears and Pandas varsity curlers who have received specialized training to support kids at this age and stage. Each session is 90 minutes in duration, with at least 75 minutes of this time spent on the ice. The remaining time is devoted to our innovative AIM warm-up and cool down, which together help kids to build a strong general athletic foundation.

No previous curling experience is required. U12 curlers are asked to wear clean athletic shoes, approved CSA helmet and warm athletic clothing when on the ice. Brooms and sliders are provided to those who need them. All curlers receive one Golden Bears and Pandas Curling hoodie each year.

When accompanied by a supervising adult, and booked in advance, practice ice is available to registered U12 curlers most Saturdays @ 1:00 pm.

The curriculum for U12 Curling has been developed in close consultation with the Head Coach of Golden Bears and Pandas Curling, and is consistent with the guidelines of Curling Canada’s official Long-Term Curler Development (LTCD) Model.

Please note that all U12 curlers must be 9 to 12 years of age.
