Japanese Jiu Jitsu

Japanese Jiu Jitsu encompasses locking, throwing, striking, and ground defense techniques to provide an effective and versatile self-defense system.


Judo consists of throwing techniques, ground holds, choking and arm lock techniques, and teaches the use of controlling balance and body movement to defeat an opponent.


Classes provide challenging workouts which discipline the mind, strengthen the body, and improve self-confidence. Techniques are based on kicks, punches and blocks, as well as flexibility and cardiovascular exercise, and are taught in a disciplined, fun environment.


The main focus of these classes will be learning the technical aspects of striking, but you can also expect a significant physical component in either class with lots of core training.

Kung Fu

This program will introduce you to the elements of Chinese martial arts (often named under the umbrella terms kung fu or wushu) and mindful movement to become better acquainted with your own body and mind.

This Martial Arts Mix is subsidized by Athletic & Recreation fee and only University of Alberta Students are eligible to register.


This class provides how to protect your body against the predator and any danger using various martial arts skills.

Tae Kwon Do

Through the martial art philosophy, participants learn to become more disciplined, focused, mentally tough and self-aware.

Tai Chi

Step through some mindful movement and body mechanics, and pick up a few stress management and wellbeing tools for your practice.
