Running for the 3rd consecutive season Golden Bears Selects program has been created to help in the development of elite football talent in our province. Players selected to participate in this program will train with the Golden Bears Football staff, and student athletes in our program. Participants involved will train, practice, watch film and work through the implementation of offensive and defensive systems in a team setting. This team will train, study and practice together for several weekends over the winter months in preparation for several tournaments the teams will compete in. The team will have a few tournaments in February or early March 2026. There may also be the opportunity to compete against Ontario team. To compete in an international tournament. The Golden Bears Selects program is also looking at hosting a tournament this year at Foote Field. This experience will give the young men involved extended time working with a USports staff, and also allow for them to interact with USports student athletes who also serve as coaches and mentors for the program. Current University of Alberta Coaches will be using Selects to evaluate some of the players as potential players for the University of Alberta. This will be the premier team and we will get to use the full Foote Field dome for practices.

Selects still will be run through Golden Bears Football. We are a separate program from the Elks who have decided to start one this year. For those of you who are interested in university football this is your access to some of those coaches. We are also committed to having other recruiters from other universities attend practices and the tournaments throughout the year. Our advantage is the university network will be open to you through Golden Bears Selects. The next step in your football journey.
Team Alberta selections have automatic entry into the program. If they have been named to the top 100 for Team Alberta. They still must complete registration by Sept 1.
