Join a Club

Learn how to register for Club Sports Programs at the University of Alberta

A Student is defined as a Fall and/or Winter term enrolled full-time University of Alberta student who has paid the Athletics and Recreation Fee and holds an active and valid ONEcard.

Note: Not all students are eligible under this category if they have special circumstances ... status of a club member can be reviewed case-by-case.

Steps to Register

1. Register and pay for the Club Sports Program Administrative (ActivityReg) Fee
  • $10.50 per term
  • May register and pay online or in person.
  • Registration must occur each term:
    • Spring/Summer – May 1 to Aug 31
    • Fall – Sep 1 to Dec 31
    • Winter – Jan 1 to Apr 30
  • A participant may register for more than one club; fee applies per club.
Fees support:
  • Student staff support
  • Risk Management supplies
  • Marketing & Promotions
  • Office supplies
  • Storage equipment
  • Facility maintenance / upkeep / utilities
  • Equipment repair / replacement
  • Special events / fundraising campaigns
  • Music licensing fees
2. Pay the Club-Specific Membership Fee directly to the club
  • Each club sets its own fees.
  • Fee applies per club.
  • Payment typically via e-transfer or cash.
  • Club contact info is available on each club’s webpage.

A Non-Student is defined as community members with no U of A affiliation, alumni, students not paying the Athletics & Recreation fee, or students of other institutions.

Steps to Register

1. Register and pay for the Club Sports Program Administrative (ActivityReg) Fee
  • $15.75 per term
  • Must register and pay in person.
  • Registration must occur each term:
    • Spring/Summer – May 1 to Aug 31
    • Fall – Sep 1 to Dec 31
    • Winter – Jan 1 to Apr 30
  • Funds used for same purposes as student fees.
2. Register and pay for a Van Vliet Centre (VVC) Membership
  • Must be purchased in person.
  • Required unless participant has a valid VVC membership.
  • Drop-In passes do not qualify.
  • Membership provides access to additional amenities.
3. Pay the Club-Specific Membership Fee directly to the club

Each club manages its own process and fees.

A Coach / Choreographer is a participant brought on for coaching or choreography. Non-students in these roles are exempt from purchasing a VVC membership unless also participating as general members.

  • $15.75 per term
  • May register and pay online or in person.
2. Pay the Club-Specific Membership Fee directly to the club (if applicable)

Fees are determined by each club.

Staff / Faculty members are NASA or AASUA participants and have a pre-paid VVC membership through their role. Eligible members hold a staff ONEcard.

2. Pay the Club-Specific Membership Fee directly to the club (if applicable)
