Instructor Programs

First Aid Instructor


First Aid Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Lifesaving Society CPR, Basic First Aid, Intermediate First Aid, Aquatic Emergency Care, CPR-HCP, and Oxygen Administration programs.

Ages 18+

Pre-Requisites

Successful completion of Lifesaving Instructor certification

Valid Intermediate First Aid or Workplace-Approved Intermediate First Aid

First Aid Instructor | Recertification


The First Aid Instructor Recertification course ensures instructors stay current and effective in their roles by evaluating leadership competencies and providing updates on Lifesaving Society best practices.

Ages 18+

Pre-Requisites

Valid Intermediate First Aid

Completed all mandatory updates (as required).

Lifesaving & CPR Instructor


Lifesaving Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue and Lifesaving Society CPR programs. This program includes CPR Instructor certification.

Ages 15+

Pre-Requisites

At least 15 years old by the last day of the course.

Succesful completion of Swim Instructor certification

National Lifeguard Instructor


National Lifeguard Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the National Lifeguard Pool, Water park, Waterfront, or Surf programs.

Ages 18+

Pre-Requisites

Valid National Lifeguard certification (any type) held for at least two years.

Succesful completion of Lifesaving Instructor certification.

Swim Instructor


Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Swim for Life® and Canadian Swim Patrol programs.

Ages 15+

Pre-Requisites

At least 15 years old by the last day of the course.

Succesful completion of Bronze Cross certification or higher.

Swim for Life/Lifesaving/CPR Instructor


This course certifies candidates in both the Swim Instructor and the Lifesaving Instructor certifications. Upon completion, candidates will be able to teach Swim for Life®, Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue, and CPR programs.

Ages 15+

Pre-Requisites

At least 15 years old by the last day of the course.

Succesful completion of Bronze Cross certification or higher.

Swim for Life/Lifesaving/CPR Instructor | Recertification


This recertification course will provide candidates with an opportunity to enhance their leadership competencies, network with peers, and receive important updates from the Lifesaving Society.

Ages 16+

Pre-Requisites

Complete all mandatory updates (as required).
