Club Sports

Badminton Club

The University of Alberta Badminton Club is a student-run club that fills up quickly! It's a great opportunity to meet new people, train and play with students and community members with a wide variety of backgrounds.

Bollywood Club

The Bollywood Dance Club is a great way for members to be involved in a community celebrating culture while also being able to grow and improve upon skills in the art of Bollywood dance as well as other Indian dance styles.

Cheer Team

The University of Alberta Cheer Team is a co-ed team for UofA students interested in gymnastics, stunting, jumping, and dancing. Tryouts are held at the beginning of September and registration for this club is limited to those who try out.

Climbing Club

The Climbing Club offers a great opportunity to meet new people and join an outstanding community of support, friendly competition and fun.

Contemporary MOD

A student run advanced contemporary dance company, giving dancers at the University of Alberta a chance to explore their own creativity through choreography and performance. Auditions are held at the beginning of September and registration for this club is limited to those who audition.

Dance Team

The Dance Team is a competitive hip hop crew consisting of 15-20 advanced dancers and performs at various university and community events and competitions. Tryouts are held in early September.

Fencing Club

The Fencing Club is open to beginners and experienced fencers providing a learning and development environment where fun and inclusivity is emphasized.

Figure Skating Club

The Figure Skating Club strives to promote an opportunity for students to continue participation in figure skating at a competitive or recreational level, offering regular ice times during the week. The focus of the club is on practice, not instruction.

Hip Hop Club

The Hip-Hop Club aims to reach out to the community on campus, to educate about hip-hop culture, and to promote hip-hop dance in a safe and welcoming environment. Open to all dance backgrounds and skill levels.


The Lacrosse Club provides the opportunity for anyone to participate in the sport of lacrosse and focuses on the development and appreciation of lacrosse at the University of Alberta. Beginners and people new to the sport are welcome.

Orchesis Dance Performance Group

Orchesis is a dance program for dancers of all abilities and experience, seeking serious dance instruction by professionals. We offer ballet, contemporary modern and jazz dance training with an option to perform.

Outdoor Club

The University of Alberta Outdoors Club (UAOC) has been an active club on campus for 75 years. They offer a variety of outdoor trips, experiences, social events, educational opportunities, free equipment rentals, local retail discounts and more.

Powerlifting Club

The sport of powerlifting consists of three lifts: the squat, bench press and deadlift. The Club holds regular training sessions in the Powerlifting Area of the HFLC and hosts competitions throughout the year.

Quidditch Club

Quidditch is a sport that combines elements of handball, dodgeball, wrestling, flag football, and rugby in an exciting and fun mix. The Quidditch Club offers students and community members the opportunity to practice, build skills, and compete in an inclusive environment open to players of all skill levels and genders.

Rowing Club

The Rowing Team’s mission is to provide the opportunity for U of A student-athletes to participate, train and compete in the sport of rowing. The Club offers all levels of practice from novice to high-performance.

Rugby Club

The University of Alberta Rugby Club competes in the fall term against men's rugby teams from various schools in Alberta. The Club also competes in 15's and 7's competitions in both the fall and winter terms across Canada the U.S.

Scuba Club

The Club offers pool sessions for both new/uncertified divers in a program called Discover Scuba. Certified divers have an opportunity to dive with the Club as well.

Squash Club

The Squash Club provides the opportunity to meet and socialize with other players of all levels, participate in training sessions, compete in club tournaments and attend social events. All levels are encouraged to register.

Swim Club

Swim Club provides an opportunity for swimmers of all skill levels on campus to hone their strokes and get in a great workout. Club membership includes exclusive pool space, access to Club equipment, as well as social events throughout the year.

Synchro Club

The Synchronized Swimming Club is focused on keeping current synchro swimmers at the UofA active and engaged in the synchro community while providing a space where other students of any background can try our sport.

Table Tennis Club

The University of Alberta Table Tennis Club focuses on the development of the sport of Table Tennis. The Club has weekly practices each semester, including ladder-style King’s Court. All levels welcome

Tae Kwon Do Club

Tae Kwon Do (TKD) is a martial art focusing on defensive and offensive techniques without the use of weapons. New members are always welcome regardless of experience.

Triathlon Club

The University of Alberta Triathlon Club aims to be a place where beginner and experienced triathletes alike can train, socialize, and learn from each other about the swim-bike-run sport. The club holds regular training sessions throughout the year.

Ultimate Club

Ultimate Frisbee is a competitive, fun, fast-paced sport! It combines running, catching and throwing a disc, and much strategy! The Club holds weekly sessions outdoors and indoor sessions are held in the Winter Term.

Water Polo Club

The University of Alberta Water Polo Club offers a competitive team and a beginner/recreational team for all students interested. The Club holds weekly practices including swimming training and developing basic water polo technique.
